In the context of economic slowdown, China’s flexible packaging industry, like many other industries, is facing pain points such as soaring labor costs, worsening economic environment due to the China-US trade frictions, and tightening VOCs governance policy, thus making it necessary to seek industrial transformation or upgrading. As consumption booms, plastic flexible packaging has been widely used in almost all types of merchandise packages due to its functionalities (moisture resistance, barrier properties, moldability, etc.) and relatively low cost. The largest markets for flexible packaging lie in food and beverage, daily chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, and the demand is growing by the year. It is expected that in the near future, the flexible packing industry will become one of the most important and promising industries in the national economy.

In order to promote exchanges within and development of China’s plastic flexible packaging industry, Reed Exhibitions will host SinoFlexPack South 2020 on April 9–11, 2020, at Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center, Houjie Town, Dongguan, as part of an effort to pool resources and promote technological development in the industry.

As an effort to address the challenges encountered by China’s flexible packaging industry, Reed Exhibitions and the Composite Film Professional Committee of China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CFPC of CPPIA) have joined forces to pool quality resources and gathered industry leaders for meeting the diversified needs of plastic color printing enterprises, by providing a whole range of services, i.e. industry information, business and trade, buyer-and-seller matching, success story sharing, and business development. The goal is to create a grand gathering to engage industry insiders in a joint effort to promote the improvement and upgrading of the industry for sustainable development. This is essentially how SinoFlexPack South 2020 comes into being.

Reed Exhibitions hosts more than 500 exhibitions in more than 30 countries, which span 43 industries and attract 7 million professional visitors each year. Among the global packaging exhibitions Reed Exhibitions is dedicated to building, there are 13 exhibitions in China concerning corrugated, carton, packaging containers, paper, flexible packages, intralogistics, among other industries, 6 in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, 3 in South America, 2 in North America, and 3 in Europe. 

In early 2019, Reed Exhibitions acquired ICE Europe (paper, film and foil converting) of Mack Brooks Exhibitions, to enable the integration of robust international exhibition resources, including customers, technologies, equipment, among others, thus providing customers with greater values of attending the exhibitions.

The co-organizer of the event—the Composite Film Professional Committee is directly under the leadership of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association and subject to the the guidance and supervision of the China Light Industry Council and the Office for the Registration and Management of Social Organizations under China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs. The Committee is predominately comprised of composite film processing companies, and its members include most of domestically-renowned flexible packaging companies with sophisticated equipment, advanced technologies, and strong R&D capabilities, as well as a range of large- and medium-sized backbone companies. Therefore, it goes without saying how influential and authoritative it is in China’s plastic flexible packaging industry.
